Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems and Elippse Designs LLC, Sign Worldwide Licensing Agreement to Develop Low Noise Propellers for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
McMinnville, Oregon. Dec. 29, 2010 – Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems recently signed a worldwide licensing and manufacturing agreement to develop Low Noise Propellers for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Elippse Design LLC will grant exclusive worldwide license to use and exploit Elippse Intellectual Property for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems market, as both a manufacturer and as exclusive marketing firm for the Licensed Products. The types of Licensed Products that the Agreement covers include but are not limited to fixed-pitch propellers and variable-pitch propeller blades, which may be manufactured in single blade, two-blade, three-blade or more than three-blade configurations for all types of UAS.
"Northwest UAV has been in development of Variable Pitch & Constant Pitch Propeller Systems for UAS since 2009. These systems promise to increase UAV mission length by reducing fuel consumption of UAV engines and optimizing engine performance. Adding the Elippse blade design brings an added benefit; reducing the noise signature of UAV propellers", said Chris Harris, President NW UAV.
NW UAV recently tested the Elippse design at their Test & Evaluation Facility in McMinnville, Oregon and is now building propeller variants for fixed pitch and variable pitch UAV configurations.
